Synopsis:
Many classically trained pianists have fear playing or problem fitting in a worship band. Is contemporary keyboard that difficult to play? How does it work with other instruments in the team to make music pleasing to the Lord? This workshop will answer those issues and give you some practical guidelines.
Outline:
- Chord 101
- How to be a successful chord “make up artist”
- Let’s practice some Syncopation together!
- “Improvisation-visualization”
- How to play different sound patches/effects
- What adjustments are needed when playing keyboard in a band
- The “quality” and “quantity” of playing
- How to analyze a song and “layer” sounds
- How to develop your own style of improvisation
- Let’s improvise together!!
We encourage participants to bring their own keyboard for more efficient learning and to work on exercises and applications.
